Heyyyyyyy all~!
It's that time of the year again! More SOLATOROBON!
This run was just released some time last week by CyberConnect2 - it acts as a sort-of sequel to the summer edition that was released last year in August-September.
[My (p)review of the summer issue can be found here ---> Solatorobon 5th Anniversary -SUMMER-]
As such, we have Solotorobon 5th Anniversary -Winter 2016-!
This issue features more of the less-prominent characters in the series like the hybrids (Nero, Blanc, Baion) and (my favorite little maid/assistant) Flo Financier~
The cover connects with the summer edition to form a combined art piece, which itself is featured on two pages inside the book itself:
[Awesomesauce]
Anyway, one of the first images is by the same artist of these covers, and featuring two very uncommon faces - Caninu!Blanc and Caninu!Nero~ O.O
[Despite only featuring in-game for a few seconds, they still get some love~ That Nero blush~]
Surprisingly, this issue doesn't really feature as many illustrations as I'm used to - but here are the ones that stood out to me!
[We have Rose, who's wearing Carine's hat~ Interesting to see her representing the unused "Red Data Children" characters...]
[(Almost) the full cast, in dynamic glory! ]
Moving on to the comics, we have some interesting shorts going on regarding the Winter season. I don't even read Japanese, but these were pretty easy to get once I took a closer look!
[A four-page short, where all the Felinekos are being bummed out by the winter cold, prompting Red to engage in some robo matches to fire up the populace!]
[A two-page short of Blanc and Nero learning about the perils(?) of Kotatsu, or Japanese heating tables - this one is legitimately adorable~ >///w///<]
From here on out we have content produced by the staff - there are some interviews all in Japanese, but I'll focus on two illustrations by WAKA and Mamesuke, two of CC2's main artists tied to Solatorobo's art direction...
First, we have the Kurvaz gang (Opéra + Gren + Calua) waiting in anticipation of Spring~ Like the summer edition's depiction of Red, Chocolat and Elh 5 years later, this is a nice reworking of the group's general appearance - giving them a more oriental style suited to their guild's theme:
[Gren is by far the most interesting-looking here...that Bishounen hair~]
Next, Mamesuke delivers her usual chibi flair, which is always appreciated~
[5 years really flies by, doesn't it?]
Lastly, we have little doodle-well-wishes compiled into a two-page spread. It isn't much, but it's nice to feel the love people have for this series~
And that's about it! There were some pages I didn't bother showing, but these are the definitely some of the highlights of this winter edition!
Overall, it's pretty good! I would really only recommend it to avid fans of the series as the art is more limited here, but if you want to own a bit of Solatorobo memorabilia, this isn't too bad at all~! If you have the summer edition, you will definitely be hard-pressed to get this Winter edition too!
I hope you enjoyed this small preview! Do consider getting it to support both the CC2 team which gave us Solatorobo, and to keep the fandom flames burning! Peace out!
Have a great week,
-Gabriel

Picking Up the Pieces for 2024
Another 12 months. Another year-end journal. It's time for us to move forward again. Goodbye 2023, you were equal parts enriching and equal parts sluggish. While I haven't been very vocal here, I've had to deal with some things in the background this year. It hasn't all been great. At the beginning of 2023, I had a plan to kick off something xtreme in my art - and I was ready to pour time into making it a reality. However...it didn't really turn out the way I had hoped. I'm not ready to share at length about what happened - but just know that this new idea has been put back into the oven to cook longer. That aside, here's how the year went: Ups: 2023 continued to be a pretty consistent year for my art. I've been gradually learning to do more soft rendering and it's been fun to give my characters more detailed shading/lighting. My art Twitter skyrocketed to around 10K followers this year and I got to link up with a lot of new art friends. As a bonus, I even got to bump shoulders
A Wistful Stroll Into 2023
The clock will soon strike midnight where I'm at, so I guess that's a wrap for 2022. This year was...one where the dust settled for me. A lot of it was spent on overcoming my anxieties and trying to more contented with myself. My resolution at the end of 2021 was to just make it through 2022 as a happier person...and you know what? I think it worked out for once: Ups: I kind of surprised myself with the amount of art I churned out in 2022 (as detailed here). This year saw me posting almost weekly sometimes, with quite a number of commissions completed too. It was an incredibly productive 12 months where I exceeded myself on many levels. Since seeing a doctor to treat my anxiety/depression...I've been getting better. I'm still not fully out of the woods yet, but I no longer wake up with a suffocating dread each new day. I'm actually able to let go of my obsessive thoughts and finally relax for the first time in many, many years. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was an unexpected surprise
1K Watcher Raffle Winners!
It's finally over! Thank you for all you folks who participated in the raffle (and for the congratulations too). It's my first time doing this, so I'm grateful that everyone was civil with their Jelly-Filled Donuts haha. Without further ado...the winners are: 5 DH200-Official -------------------- 16 yama951 -------------------- 33 thundergod0001 -------------------- I will send you a message about what you want for your raffle soon, so look out for it and think about what you want for your prize art!
December Hiatus
Going to take a brief hiatus to rest up during this holiday season - so don't expect much art during the month of December. I've actually been on a break from my real-life job for the past few months, and I'll soon be returning to the office this week. So I need some space to get used to the daily grind again. It won't be easy. I'll still have something small planned to celebrate hitting 1K watchers though - so please stay tuned. :) - Galajo

Well this is awkward, I just remembered about this now and didn't even know it was out for almost one month ago.
Meh I have the summer magazine (the only Solatorobo stuff I own) but basically you just showed what I wanted to see ahahaah
Dude, as if Gren couldn't get even more oriental as he was. At least his hair doesn't seem like daily 2 hours workout :3
If he's still working in the guild means he didn't tell her yet
